Atlantic Immigration Program

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a special pathway created to support skilled workers and international graduates who want to live and work in Canada’s Atlantic provinces—Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador. This program is developed through a partnership between the federal government and the Atlantic provinces to attract qualified talent, fill labour market gaps, and strengthen regional economic growth.

What makes AIP unique is its employer-focused structure and simplified application process, allowing eligible candidates to obtain permanent residency more quickly and without needing a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). It is an excellent option for skilled workers, international graduates, and intermediate-skilled applicants who have a valid job offer from a designated employer in any of the Atlantic provinces.

Why Choose the Atlantic Immigration Program?

No LMIA Requirement:

The job offer under AIP does not require an LMIA, significantly speeding up the application process.

Family-Friendly:

The program allows applicants to include their spouse or common-law partner and dependent children in the application.

Pathway to Permanent Residency:

Successful applicants receive permanent resident status, allowing them to live, work, and access social benefits in Canada.

Supports Community and Economic Growth:

Designed to address specific labour needs in Atlantic provinces, supporting local economies and communities.

1. Secure a Job Offer from a Designated Employer

Your first step is to obtain a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an employer registered under the AIP in one of the Atlantic provinces.

2. Employer Support and Endorsement

Once you have the job offer, the employer works with the provincial government to obtain an endorsement for your application. This endorsement confirms that you meet the program requirements and the job offer fits local labour market needs.

3. Submit Your Permanent Residency Application

With the endorsement and job offer in hand, you can submit your application for permanent residency to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Your application will include proof of your job offer, endorsement letter, and supporting documents like education credentials and language test results.

4. Processing and Approval

IRCC processes your application, which typically takes less time compared to other immigration pathways. During this period, you may be asked to undergo medical exams and security checks.
