Rural Community Immigration Pilot
The Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) is an innovative program aimed at helping smaller rural regions across Canada attract skilled immigrants who can support local growth and development. At Canadian Residency Services, we recognize that RCIP provides a valuable opportunity for individuals wishing to settle in peaceful, less populated Canadian towns while enjoying a strong sense of community.
Unlike traditional immigration pathways focused on major cities, RCIP targets rural areas experiencing labour shortages and actively seeking dedicated newcomers. This program not only helps fill essential roles but also encourages long-term settlement, ensuring that immigrants become integrated members of their new communities. RCIP creates a mutually beneficial path—strengthening rural economies while offering candidates a stable and welcoming place to build their future.
1. Secure a Job Offer from a Participating Community Employer
You must first obtain a genuine, full-time, permanent job offer from an employer designated by an RCIP community. The job must be non-seasonal and match your skills and experience.
2. Apply for a Community Recommendation
After receiving your job offer, you apply to the rural community for a recommendation. The community evaluates your application based on your job offer, your ability to integrate locally, and your genuine intention to live in the area.
3. Submit Your Application for Permanent Residency
Once the community recommends you, you can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency. You must fulfill all standard immigration requirements including health, security, and criminal background checks.
4. Receive Permanent Residency and Settle in the Community
Upon approval, you receive your permanent resident status and can begin your new life in the rural community that supported your application.
